Viewing lineage for an item
 
If an item is cloned, the original item (parent) and the copied item (child) can evolve separately without having any impact upon one another. Later, a child can become the source for another cloning. In that case, the child now becomes a parent, and the copy becomes its child. Thus, a hierarchy (family tree) develops during the cloning process, and is recorded in the item's lineage.
 
Note: The following shows lineage for a single selection multiple choice item (SSMC). Screens may look different for likert, multiple selection multiple choice items (MSMC), and hotspot items.
 
To view an item's lineage:
 
 
2. Navigate to the item's Lineage tab (highlighted in green, below):
 
 
3. The lineage of the item is shown in the MCQ Lineage field (highlighted in red, above). In the example above, Item 21341 is a child of Item 494.
