Items are exam items/questions that are scored and for which item statistics are evaluated.
There are six different types of items:
Single selection multiple choice (SSMC) objective item: The candidate may select only one answer choice.
Multiple selection multiple choice (MSMC) objective item: The candidate may select one or more answer choices.
Hotspot objective item: The candidate clicks on an image to indicate their answer choice.
Picture archiving and communication system (PACS) item: The candidate reviews a series of exhibits (images and videos) and then answers one or more multiple choice questions based on those exhibits.
Semi-interactive console (SIC) item: The candidate views and adjusts the controls of a semi-interactive ultrasound machine in order to respond to a problem statement (question).
Essay item: The candidate provides an essay reponse to the provided prompt.
